Privacy Policy

Short version. I do not own your notes. I do not sell them. I do not use them for ads. I will not read your private documents unless you ask me to help, or the law requires it. I will not use your notes to train AI models. They are yours.

Shepherd Docs is a writing app for pastors and anyone studying Scripture. Luke Netti LLC operates it. I am Luke Netti.

This policy explains what I collect when you use shepherddocs.com, app.shepherddocs.com, or email me, and what choices you have.

1. Information I collect

I collect personal information when you give it to me and when you use the product.

Information you provide

Account. When you create an account I store your email and password so you can sign in. I may also store a name if you give me one.

Your documents. I store what you write, import, or attach to a passage, including tags, a primary passage, related notes, and daily notes. Import accepts .txt, .md, and .docx. You can export Markdown.

Billing. After a trial, a payment processor handles the charge. I store billing status. I do not store your full card number.

Messages to me. If you email me or write for support, I keep the email address and whatever you send so I can reply.

Waitlist. If you asked to hear when the product is ready, I store your email so I can write you.

Information collected automatically

Usage. I may log how you use the app and this website, such as pages opened, features used, and basic device or browser information. That helps me keep the product working and find bugs.

Analytics. This marketing site uses Vercel Analytics to see which pages people open. That is traffic data, not a copy of your notes.

Cookies and similar tools. The app needs a signed-in session. This website may use cookies or similar tools for analytics. You can block cookies in your browser. The product will not stay signed in if you block the ones required for a session.

2. How I use your information

I use personal information to:

  • Run Shepherd for you and keep you signed in
  • Process payment after a trial and send receipts or billing notices
  • Answer questions and support requests
  • Send product email you asked for, including a waitlist note
  • Fix bugs, keep the service secure, and understand how the product is used
  • Enforce these terms and follow the law

I may combine or anonymize usage data so it no longer identifies you, and use that to improve the product.

AI. What I do not do

Shepherd does not write your notes with AI. I do not use your personal information or your documents to train, fine-tune, or improve an AI or machine learning model. If I add AI later, it would be to help you find things in notes you already wrote, not to put words on the page. If that plan changes, this page will change first.

3. When I share information

I use other companies to host the app, send email, take payment, and measure traffic. They only get what they need to do that job.

I do not sell your notes. I do not share your documents with other customers. Only you can see them, unless you export them or send them to someone yourself.

I may share information if the law requires it, if I get a valid legal request, or if I have to protect the service from abuse or fraud.

4. Where data lives

I use hosting and tools that may process data in the United States and other countries. Those places may have different privacy laws than where you live. I still treat your information as this policy describes.

5. Your choices

Email. Product or waitlist email will have a way to unsubscribe, or you can write me. You will still get mail that is required to run your account, like a password reset or a billing notice.

Cookies. You can turn cookies off in your browser. See the note above about sign-in.

Export. You can export your notes in Markdown from the product.

6. Your privacy rights

You can ask me to:

  • Correct personal information that is wrong or incomplete
  • Delete your personal information and account

Email luke@shepherddocs.com. I will work through the request. I may need to confirm it is you. Some records I have to keep for the law, like a billing record.

7. How long I keep it

I keep your account and notes while the account is open, and as long as I need them to provide the service or follow the law.

If you ask me to delete your account, I will remove your documents and sign-in from the app. Backups may take a little longer to age out.

Waitlist emails stay until you ask me to take you off the list.

8. Security

I take steps to keep your information reasonably secure. No system is completely safe. I cannot promise that information you send me will never be accessed without permission.

If I learn of a breach that affects you, I will try to tell you by email or by a notice in the product.

9. Other websites

Shepherd and this site may link out. I do not control those sites. Their privacy practices are their own. Read theirs before you give them information.

10. Children

Shepherd is not directed at children under 13, or an older age if your local law requires it. I do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child gave me information, email me and I will delete it.

11. Changes

I may update this policy when the product, the law, or how I handle data changes. The date at the top will change. If a change is material, I will email the address on your account when I can.
